drams.

This distillery and the Firkin Founder were both founded in ?49. This is a cracker. It?s kind of long but narrow and jam-packed with creamy butterscotch toffee, crisp malt and some fruit oak. It hangs around with a tad of cinnamon and sweet biscuit.

Call the fire brigade! This has everything: big burning embers, smoky bonfire and a tad of oak with peppery lively spirit. Dig a little deeper for the malt and creamy oak middle holding it all together. So chewy and smoky.
Beautiful dry juicy Sicilian ros? made from two grapes that only grow in Sicily - Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Capuccio; together these quirky red grapes combine to give great juicy cherry aromas and depth of structured red fruit flavours to this lively deep coloured rosato - the Italian name for ros?.
Buy it - this is sensational.
Mt Etna is Europe's largest active volcano and the inspiration for the artwork on the label of this funky new, savoury flavoured, silky textured red from Etna. It's pale in colour with huge structure and earthy aromas supported by red fruit notes from the Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Capuccio grapes; famous for being grown only on Mt Etna. This wine is a relative newcomer for the Piccini family, a Tuscan based wine family who now own a vineyard called Scalunera on Mt Etna.
If you're looking for Italy in a glass, here it is - a complex Chianti Classico (90% Sangiovese and 10% Merlot) from a hillside vineyard in Tuscany called Poggio Teo. This 10 hectare site is situated about 400 metres above sea level where its vines gain maximum sunshine and benefit from cool nights, both of which enhance this wine's deep velvet smooth mouthfeel and complex, dry savoury aromas. Fleshy black plum flavours and a soft textured mid palate are followed by a lingering flavoursome finish.
A great wine for drinking now (must be decanted to show at its best) and to save for another five to six years.
Matured predominantly in European and American sherry seasoned oak casks, Highland Park 10 Year Old is a vibrant and smooth single malt, bursting with flavours of crushed citrus fruit and lightly whipped vanilla cream. You?ll detect hints of heather honey in its aromatic peat smoke and just a trace of peppery spice. Delicious with pan-fried scallops wrapped in bacon or with a salted-honey vanilla cream parfait.
Chateau Montlabert is in the heart of St Emilion and produces some of its most outstanding red wines which have great longevity with their soft sweet warm fruit flavours and deep blackcurrant notes. Great concentration, fine smooth tannins and velvety richness all make this superb Right Bank red a wine to covet and collect.
