Australian Wine
From the winery...
Our Mackenzie William Riesling is named after our eldest grandson. Our Eden Valley Riesling is delicately picked from our longstanding vines planted in the 1960s, and 1980s, and from our cherished, deep-rooted 1890s vines ? believed to be some of the oldest in Australia. Each batch of fruit bestows its unique attributes, creating quintessential Eden Valley citrus and minerally characteristics which our region is so well known for, and a complexity that ensures our dry style?s impressive length of finish.
Winemaker’s Notes:
"We planted this famous French variety in the late nineties. The Tannat’s famed tannins are demonstrated in this black brooding monster. The Wine was matured for two years using seasoned French and American oak. This tightly structured wine displays a bouquet of black olive, Dutch Liquorice and bramble complemented by hints of violets and spice. The robust palate exhibits black forest fruits, quince, blue damson plum with hints of dried figs and prunes coupled with cedary cigar box, blueberry and rosemary characters. If consumed early, this powerful wine will require lengthy aeration and a rich meat or game dish." Geoff Johnston.
96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Malbec from Margaret River, Western Australia
Generosity, layers and contours surround the palate. Density of dark forest fruits combine with cacao, cracked coffee and anise. Vibrancy and energy is underlined with a mineral and graphite acid line and delicate elegant finish.
Pirramimma is a family run winery with a history dating back to1892 and today comprises over 100 hectares of prime McLaren Vale fruit.
The 2019 Cabernet Merlot displays a bouquet of red cherry, blackberry and violets with hints of spicy oak. On the palate there are ripe blackcurrant, plum, quince and chocolate notes which are complemented by hints of pomegranate and subtle toasty oak.
Drink now and over the next three years with rich meaty fare, stews and hard cheeses.
Spanish inspired, Australian made Tempranillo from the adventurous Chaffey Bros brand. This dry Aussie red is smooth, soft textured and tastes of ripe fruit flavours of red and dark plums, stewed and dried. It's made from two vineyards in the Barossa Valley, South Australia, one of them with 70+ years of vine age, which comes through in this wine's superb concentration of flavour - older vines are thought to deliver richer flavours.
The inspiration for La Conquista comes from Spain's most famous red wine, Rioja, which is usually a blend. This is also a blend and uses the same grapes as found in Rioja - namely, Tempranillo with Grenache and Graciano (from the cooler Eden Valley) for support.
The wine is named after the 1811 Battle of the Barrosa in Cad?z.
Adventurous take on the famous French theme of soft, spicy reds from the southern Rhone Valley. This smooth, fruit forward blend of Grenache, Shiraz and Mourv?dre has ripe dark fruit flavours of red fleshed plums, red peach and a hint of cedar, spicy depth on the finish. Medium bodied, bone dry, flavoursome and complex.
Grange is Australia’s most collectible wine on the auction market and is listed as a Heritage Icon of South Australia. It was first created in the 1950s by the late Max Schubert, winemaker at Penfolds, whose aim was to create a Shiraz to end all Shirazes. His wine was controversial when first tasted with others at the winery but has since grown to become a liquid expression of South Australia's hot climate, its most planted grape variety and winemaking with all the bells and whistles. It's always youthful when first bottled and can age for decades, in the correct cellaring conditions.
"Rich, concentrated and intense, the 2014 Grange delivers exactly what we've come to expect from this Penfolds icon wine. It's full-bodied, velvety in feel and loaded with plummy fruit, framed in vanilla and cedar. Dense, powerful and tannic, it should prove to be long lived, even by Grange standards. Gago doesn't rate the vintage overall that highly, but he says the selection this year for Grange was a bit more stringent and that production levels were just average."

Pure Eden is a single site wine, made from an Eden Valley vineyard planted by Charles Angas in the 1890s. Later owned by the Shiltons 1911 -1926; Meakins 1926-1929; Roeslers 1929-1961; Andretzkes 1961-2011 and now the Lindner family. This wine is a reward of these guardians? efforts for more than one hundred years.
An alluring bouquet of red and blue fruits leap from the glass with savoury herbs and hints of black olive, cedar, earthiness and white pepper. A medium to full-bodied wine with juicy Satsuma plum and raspberry fruits with plenty of velvety tannins adding structure and texture to the wine. Sweet and briary spices balance the juicy fruit with a subtle cedar note carrying through to the finish.
-100% Shiraz from Flaxman Valley, Eden Valley,
-24 months in 47% new French oak and 53% seasoned French oak
Eden Valley born, Barossa winemaker Corey Ryan cut his teeth at Henschke before moving to Villa Maria in Auckland, New Zealand, and then returning home to create the Sons of Eden brand with an old buddy. This outstanding wine is the result of their partnership and is one of the pinnacle reds in the Sons of Eden range - a wine that will surprise with not only its power and intensity but also its balance and elegance.
Zephyrus Shiraz is named after the Greek God of the West Wind, who is depicted as a majestic horse, which makes the artwork extremely apt on the label of this outstanding Shiraz. IT?s made from grapes grown in both the Eden Valley (45%) and the Barossa Valley (55%), which combine their, respectively, cooler and warmer climate attributes, which gives this wine its lively acidity and full bodied power. The wine was fermented using varying proportions of whole bunch clusters from 10% to 60% with 20 to 25 days on skins followed by pressing into French oak barrels, 45% new and 55% seasoned. It spent 15 months in oak and was bottled without fining or filtration so it ticks the vegan friendly box
This deep purple, dry, full bodied Shiraz has powerful ripe black fruit flavours and spicy notes that give this varietal its distinctive appeal.
A top shelf wine that you don't have to dig too deep to afford.
