Chardonnay
Chardonnay is the world's most popular and widely consumed white wine, often referred to as the red drinker's white of choice, and it's New Zealand's third most popular grape variety. It thrives in this country's climate, making a wide range of styles, including this full bodied, creamy and fresh dry Chardonnay from Marlborough. A stunner at this price and fab value for money.
White gold, pale straw hue in the glass with aromas of white peach, nectarine, blood orange, oatmeal, subtle hazelnut and chalky minerals on the nose. The palate is broad and dense, with mealy, waxy qualities and an underlying salty minerality that lingers and persists. This is an unfiltered wine with small amounts of sediment. Please allow the bottle to stand and settle before pouring. Decanting will allow maximum expression of aroma and purity of fruit to emerge.
"Fresh and flinty aromas of lime, hazelnut and a hint of vanilla. The palate is bright with nettle, white peach, and melon. Flavours of raw almond, wet stone and oyster shell. This is unfiltered wine with small amounts of sediment." Winemakers note.
This is an excellent Chardonnay from North Canterbury. Black Estate is biodynamic and certified organic. This wine is delicate and complex.
This wine meets you with alluringly sweet white florals on the nose, quickly followed by butter and stone fruit. This is a characterful wine with toasty oak and creamy yeast combining with well-defined stone-fruit notes. The entry to the palate is soft and creamy, building quickly with elements of lemon zest, wood smoke, grapefruit pith and rock salt in an intense finish.
Closeburn is our un-oaked Chardonnay. The fruit is grown throughout the Central Otago region and exhibits the regions natural elegant fruit flavours and mineral complexity. The wine is fermented in tank to retain its bright fruit. It is then left to rest on its yeast lees to gain some doughy complexity and softness. This is a refreshing full-bodied wine, unencumbered by oak and superb with food. - Chard Farm.

Winemakers comments:
The Judge & Jury chardonnay is grown on The Tiger, Viper and Mason Vineyards in the Lowburn and Parkburn regions of the Cromwell basin. A steep slope overlooking the Tiger vineyard in Lowburn produces the same aromatically spicy/floral profiles that we find in the Pinot Noir grown there, as well as similar persistence and very long-lived flavours. The Viper Vineyard in Parkburn grows intensely lemony and weighty Chardonnay, the palate length showing the rich mineral acid and saline notes typical of this vineyard. While the Mason Vineyard provides good fruit weight, texture, and depth of flavour to round out the palate.
We are keeping the crop load very low, and the wine is given lengthy skin contact before pressing, and fermentation in barrel. Of which the majority are made from Acacia trees rather than oak. The result is a wine that is tight, refreshingly pure, and mineral driven, showcasing cool climate fruit where the oak is very much in the background. Best from 2022 on.
Wine description: An intense bouquet of green apple and ripe citrus fruits are first up before more complex notes of white flowers, creaminess and wet stone are released. There is good intensity on the palate with rich citrus and apple fruits. Beautifully balanced and seamless the wine is extremely drinkable, with lingering citrus and nutty notes with a light salinity bringing some extra focus and purity.
This product comes pre wrapped in a pretty bag with a bow.
2020 PENCARROW CHARDONNAY MARTINBOROUGH
Pencarrow Chardonnay is made by Palliser Estate, one of Martinborough's biggest wineries. The grapes in this dry, creamy wine come from the estate's Om Santi and Clouston vineyards, 70% of which were wild fermented in barrel with lees stirring for added weight. The finished wine was matured in 20% new French oak barrels for 10 months by winemaker Guy McMaster.
Church Road Chardonnay is a flavourful, serious wine which offers excellent value for money. The nose offers a fruit core of ripe stone-fruit and fragrant citrus, balanced by a touch of nuttiness and creaminess. The palate is supple and soft, with gentle acidity providing freshness and balance. Church Road Chardonnay should age well for up to four years. It is also very approachable upon release with fresh fruit aromas, subtle oak toast and a gentle, full palate.
