Portugese Wines
Old vine field blends are among the most complex, full bodied, under priced wines pouring out of Portugal today. This one is a deliciously welcome return to our shelves and is made from an undetermined range of grape varieties, led by Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz (the Portuguese name for Tempranillo) and Touriga Franca - it tastes spicy with a firm structure, dark purple fruit flavours and a lovely smooth texture thanks to barrel ageing for 12 months.
Winemaker Mike Kush produces this wine at Quinta da Costa - a contract winemaking facility owned by a friend.
Smooth red made from a judicious and delicious blend of native Portuguese grapes. We're talking Aragonez 50%, Castelao 40% and Touriga Nacional 10% . Complex, fruity, soft and smooth. This is an outstanding wine for the price.
It has fabulously lifted aromas of raspberry, Black Doris plum, floral and subtle spicy notes with a succulent palate that is plump and smooth. The wine offers lovely fruit purity and rounded mouthfeel, finishing long and delectable.

Tasting Notes
This is a wine with a deep colour, aromatically rich with predominant notes of ripe fruit, spices and vegetables. In the mouth it is well balanced and velvety with notes
Vinification
The grapes, previously destemmed, went through a low temperature pre-fermentative maceration for 24 hours. The alcoholic fermentation was done in small stainless vats with temperature control, not going over 27. ? Celsius for 12 days. The wine aged, partially, for 5 months in French and American oak barrels.
Viticulture - Density of 4.200 Plants/ha. Clay and limestone soils.
100% Chardonnay from Vinho Regional Lisboa.
The vines are planted at a density of 4.200 Plants/ha on clay and limestone soils. The fruit is destemmed and then pressed and fremented at tempreatures around 18 degrees celcius.
With the ideal soil and climate conditions, the result is a top quality, aromatic, concentrated wine. Great diurnal variation results in ripe fruits but supporting acidity.
Dry, delicious dark black fruit flavours with a spicy twist in this modern Portuguese red blend of Castel?o, Tinta Roriz and Pinot Noir. This is a stunning combo of two local red grapes with one of the world's most popular French red grapes (Pinot Noir).
Great drinking now and over the next three to four years. Excellent value for money.
Stunning medium bodied dry white made from Portugal's delicious Alvarinho grape, best known and loved for its lovely lemon flavours and refreshing depths of dry, savoury aroma notes.
This is an excellent example of a great white to drink with seafood, fresh or dried.
About Alvarinho
The hallmark of Alvarinho is its high acidity, which provides this wine with its innate and deliciously succulent freshness - something this tasty little white has in spades. It's medium bodied and totally dry with great character. Portuguese wines are on trend globally, thanks to the discovery of the country's vast range of interesting indigenous grape varieties, mostly red but with increasing volumes of great whites too, such as this wine, which is produced by Casa Santos Lima. This large family owned winery makes a vast range of wines in Portugal and we stock a fascinating and delicious selection here at Regional.
Churchill Grafite is a great red from a great Portuguese wine producer. It's a blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz (the Portuguese name for Tempranillo), which combine to make a dry, deeply coloured and full bodied wine. Spicy notes add complexity to the layers of ripe blackberry, dark plum and cedar aromas in this fab red wine. Bring on the cold nights. This wine is ideal for them.
Galodoro Tinto is a beautifully smooth, structured red wine made from a blend of three indigenous Portuguese grapes - Castelao, Tinta Roriz (also known as Tempranillo), Touriga Nacional with the addition of the French grape, Cabernet Sauvignon. If you're looking for a full bodied, dark red with rich black fruit flavours and spice, here's your wine.
It comes from Lisboa in northern Portugal and ticks all the boxes from great value for money to succulently deliciously flavoursome.
Fabulous fleshy red wine with deep colour and powerful flavours thanks to being a four way blend of grapes from Portugal, including the hero red grape of the country, Touriga Nacional. This dark skinned grape provides depth and impressive structure in this blend, which also contains the popular Syrah, Tinta Roriz (Portugal's name for Tempranillo) and a dash of 10% Alicante Bouschet, a red fleshed grape that boosts its powerful fruit aromas.
Beautiful dark juicy Portuguese red made from indigenous grapes; Touriga Nacional, Castelao, Camarate and Tinta Muida, which are grown on a combination of clay and limestone soils.
Soft, smooth and with structure, this wine has ripe blueberry flavours, which are nicely balanced by the bold dark fruity flavours of the other three grapes in the blend. All of the grapes in this wine were fermented in temperature controlled tanks up to 30 degrees C and aged for three to four months in oak; a relatively brief time, which allows the rich fruit flavours to shine and be the hero.
Confidencial is a taste combination of classic native Portuguese grapes Touriga Nacional (aka queen of Portuguese reds) with the better French red grapes, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. These three powerful red grapes each adds oomph and power to this wine, providing it with a full body, dry flavours and earthy complexity.
We think that Confidencial offers great value for money and has layers of flavours, which will improve over time in the bottle, but also drink incredibly well right now. Decant and serve in your best big wine glass.
Portugal is the most western country in Europe and home to a diverse range of wines from crisp dry whites in the maritime north to full bodied reds from the hot south, with many delicious variations in between.
Deep juicy red from the arid dry Alentejo region in the south of Portugal, a climate that Syrah loves and adores, giving its best depths of dark fruit flavours and smooth powerful tannins. This dry Portuguese red has body to burn and rich flavours to impress with hints of dried red berries, ripe plums and even notes of stewed fruit.
This is massively good value for money and comes from the family owned Casa Santos Lima winery.
