The Rogue Bore

Located in the heart of Aotearoa, New Zealand's beautiful North Island – known for its steaming geothermal valleys, stunning landscapes, and crystal-clear lake we are passionate about creating great beer that directly uses a renewable resource.

We are establishing New Zealand’s first geothermally powered brewery.

We’re named after the famous geothermal bore in the Wairakei Steam Field that blew out in 1962, creating a massive crater 22 meters deep and 70 meters long. The explosion sent a huge plume of steam visible 120km away and was a massively popular tourist attraction. It’s dormant now, but we’ll soon be harnessing that same energy directly to power our full-scale brewery, restaurant and bar.
