Patersbier - Trappist Style Ale

Unlike high-octane Trappist styles like dubbels and tripels, Belgian Single Style Ales have a lower ABV and a lighter body. The sessionable working beer of the monks themselves, Patersbier (meaning “Father’s beer”) is crisp, bready, and enriched by Belgian yeast. Whether you’re getting stuck into an afternoon of Gregorian chants, or mowing your lawn, a Patersbier goes down oh so smoothly. 

Brave Old World is a series of 8 Wired Beers, historic styles brought back to life in modern New Zealand.
This is the seventh beer in this series, a Patersbier, inspired by the Trappist style Single Ales of old.

A fruity twist on a classic hazy IPA! Hop Salad was already a blend of tropical fruit, provided by Nelson Sauvin, Mosaic, Citra and Galaxy hops. We’ve upped the fruit salad experience through the edition of fresh Peaches, for a proper fruit smoothie-like hazy beer.

Pinnacle NZ Pilsner

NEW RELEASE

We’ve been on a journey to find the pinnacle of NZ hops, so when we discovered experimental Bract NZH-106, we knew we had to brew the perfect beer for it. This quintessential New Zealand pilsner is fresh, bright, and thirst-quenching, with tropical hops and a bready backbone. It’s all down-hill from here, because this trip starts at the pinnacle. 

Our rendition of the classic delicious Belgian ale Duvel. We love to brew, drink and appreciate European style ales and have been quietly working away on this one for a wee while now.

Our rendition is slightly hoppier than Duvel from using new-school German hops rather than the tradtional German hops. This gives the beer a little more oomph and adds our own unique 8 Wired twist on this classic beer.

8.5% ABV

A Hazy IPA for those who dream of a never-ending summer. In this seasonal release, we?ve curated a selection of US and Kiwi hops, including Simcoe, Pacific Sunrise and Moutere to blast your palate with citrus, sweet orange and tropical fruit. So go find someone sunshine, enjoy this beer and keep living the dream!

6.8% ABV.

A hoppy, malty and characterful Texas Style Brown Ale. A little rough around the edges and brewed in homage to classic western movies that relished in the perfectness of imperfection.

6.2% ABV.

This is a very modern, you might say new world, interpretation of this beer style. Based on the tradition we have used a Farmhouse yeast, which provides a plethora of funky, earthy, very "Belgian" flavours. From there we have upped the ante a fair bit by doubling the amount of malt, and thereby the alcohol, and loaded the kettle with punchy Nelson Sauvin hops.

First brewed in 2010, back for a limited release by popular demand.

7% ABV

Another release to our seasonal hazy collection, Shadowplay - a thick and broody hazy pale ale. Let the mash up of Superdelic, Nectaron, NZH101 and Mosaic hops wave over you like a wall of sound. Heavy notes of mango and tropical passionfruit reverberate with every sip. To the centre of the hazy where all hops meet, waiting for you.

When our friends at Garston Hops started growing classic NZ Hop varieties in Southland, we knew we had the perfect beer to use them in. When we released Hopwired in 2009, it was one of the first IPAs to be brewed exclusively with NZ Hops - Nelson Sauvin, Motueka, and a pinch of Riwaka. What better way to showcase these classic hop varieties grown in a new terroir than Hopwired!

Come join us on an epic hazy journey! This Hazy India Pale Ale is filled to the brim with some of the dankest, most tropical, New Zealand hops we could get our hands on. For this edition, we've used brand new hop sensation Superdelic, alongside old favourite Nelson Sauvin. Totally experience waves of, like, ripe mango, pineapple and gooseberry, man!
