From Diageo's 2020 Special Releases comes a cracking Cardhu single malt! This 11 year old expression was drawn from refill, new, and ex-bourbon American oak, resulting in a wonderfully honeyed flavour profile. Appropriately, continuing the Rare by Nature theme introduced in the 2019 Special Releases, the label features a rather handsome bee on it!
Nose: An orchard fruit-led delight, with oodles of crisp apple, pear and even some grapes coming through. Over time, the fruit turns a little more tropical, especially juicy pineapple and Galia melon. Rhubarb and custard boiled sweets, pencil shavings and a gentle cinnamon prickle add to the fruit.
Palate: Densely creamy and mouth-filling, with icing sugar adding to the fruit-forward palate. There's marmalade on toast, raisins and gentle white pepper in there, too.
Finish: Medium-long, with more of that pepper and cinnamon warmth cutting through.
Overall: A classic Speysider, and the perfect late-summer sipper.
The Cardhu 14 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky "The Scarlet Blossoms of Black Rock". As the fable goes, upon a hill of blackened rock grew a mysterious tree with scarlet blossoms of irresistible charm. Their sweet aroma of honeycomb and spice was so alluring, it transformed the dark hill into lush abundance. Where crimson petals had fallen, a distillery took root. The spellbinding scent filled the air, infusing Cardhu with its distinctively enchanting character.
In this golden malt, white grape and lychee aromas frolic with melodious fruits and meadow flowers. Composed in wine-seasoned wood, it has a heather-honeyed sweetness. Fragrantly, it charms with a creamy smooth texture and perfumed taste, enriched by lush red berries. Smoother still with water, the finish carries a warming pinch of white pepper. Like a single bloom, this Cardhu is remarkable to behold.
Bottled at cask strength from refill American oak casks and finished in red wine casks.

Nose: Macerated fruits; pears, plums, cherries. Hints of pineapple develop a light, green, gooseberry-like edge.
Palate: A smooth and sweet taste, yet with light and lively acidity. Soft, delicate, fruity core with rich, chocolate-edged flavours. Warming overall.
Finish: Exciting and complex, the conclusion is long, smooth, gently drying and rich in cocoa.

Tasting Notes
Taste: Full, deep fruity flavours with a subtle smokiness. The first taste of Royal Salute brings the subtleties of the nose to life. Sumptuous sweet orange marmalade flavours infused with fresh pears burst across the tongue. The second taste brings in a rich medley of spices and a nuttiness of hazelnuts that have a mouth-filling intensity and then the final warmth from hints of masculine smokiness.
Nose: Rich, fruity aromas and sweet fragrance of autumn flowers. Powerful aromas of sweet pears and citrus fruits are balanced with the full fragrance of autumn flowers. Elegant aromas of sweet vanilla and a dry oakiness are enhanced with subtle notes of sherry and smoke.
Cladach means 'coastline' and this whisky is a blend of Diageo's coastal distilleries; Inchgower, Clynelish, Talisker, Oban, Caol Ila and Lagavulin. As you would expect from so many distilleries, there is a superb variety of casks in the final mix first-fill American oak ex-bourbon casks, refill American oak hogsheads, refill European oak butts and ex-bodega European oak butts.
The nose is driven by gentle savoury smoke, seaweed and petrichor before citrus, vanilla and caramel all appear and lead you to a palate that is much smokier and offers darker fruits and licorice. A delightful coastal number offered at a robust abv.
Clynelish is a delicious and distinctive Single Malt Scotch Whisky from one of Scotland's most northerly distileries, which is situated at Brora on the stormy north east coast.
Aged for 14 years in specially selected oak casks then bottled at a full 46% abv, this is a light yet firm-bodied maritime single malt. Fresh and creamy-smooth on the palate, it has a smoky, sea-spicy character and a very pleasing texture which is highly regarded by malt whisky connoisseurs.
