This is Heaven Hill Distillery's 2020 limited edition release of Parker?s Heritage Collection 10 Year Old Heavy Char Bourbon.
Parker?s Heritage Collection is a hallmark lineup of Heaven Hill Distillery?s exploration in premium innovation. The 14th edition continues the interaction of barrel char across varying mashbills, this time with Heaven Hill?s traditional Bourbon mashbill of 78% corn, 12% malted barley and 10% rye. The Bourbon is aged in ?Level 5? heavy char barrels, as opposed to our customary Level 3, and the resulting flavors carry intensified notes of our traditional Bourbon. Consisting of 102 barrels aged on the sixth floor of rickhouse Y for 10 years, the heavy char brings forth a caramel and maple sweetness, as well as slight smokiness developed after 40 Kentucky seasons in the barrel.
The second heavy char edition of the series advances the study of how a more intense char allows the liquid to penetrate deeper into each barrel stave and the effects on the resulting flavor. Bottled at 120 proof (60% abv) and non-chill filtered to preserve all the flavor compounds, this Bourbon showcases the broad range of Heaven Hill Distillery?s 1.8 million barrels of aging inventory.
?The Parker?s Heritage Collection is a testament to the attention to detail crafted throughout Heaven Hill?s distilling legacy,? said Susan Wahl, Vice President, American Whiskeys at Heaven Hill Distillery. ?It is an honor to continue Parker?s interest in innovation through this series and showcase the variety of Heaven Hill Distillery?s portfolio. It is in tribute to Parker and his legacy that we continue to support ALS research and patient care with this series.?

In 2006, Templeton released their 4-year-old whiskey. This sourced product was based on a nearly century-old recipe developed by Alphonse Kerkhoff in Templeton, Iowa. The Templeton 4-year-old Rye Whiskey was distilled at MGP in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Following its first release, the company quickly experienced its fair share of controversy after they were subject of a class-action lawsuit over alleged deceptive marketing practices.
Nose
The nose has a candy sweetness. Winter-mint, white sugar, dill, and alcohol notes were present.
Palate
The first sip has a thin viscosity and caused a slight tingle on the tip of the tongue. Rye spices and a faint dill note were present. The second sip presented notes of honey, vanilla, wintergreen gum, and dill. The third sip had a candy sweetness and caramel. These were followed by a faint rose note.
Finish
The finish was short and presented with notes of oak, vanilla, and cinnamon.
In closing
The Templeton 4-year-old Rye Whiskey is surprisingly refreshing. The candy sweet nose coupled with the unique wintergreen note make this spirt unique and interesting on the palate. This Rye Whiskey would be perfect for anyone who wants to dabble outside of traditional bourbon. Those who enjoy the heat of traditional rye spices will be disappointed. Overall, this spirit would make a good addition to any collection.
Berry Bros & Rudd - Deep and enticing, dusty sweet corn husks mingled with rich seasoned oak notes to provide an assertive, uplifting nose which is softened by honey and vibrant fruit. The palate expands gloriously with a background sour-mash, chalky hit doused by layers of honey and dark treacle toffee. Lingering and giving to the death; this is a masterpiece of balance, complexity, texture and structure.
This American oak aged whiskey distilled from a rye mash is at least two years old. Mostly rye grain and a touch of barley, this rye is a spicy summer rye and makes some great cocktails. A good bitter, or a splash of vermouth or ginger beer goes a long way.

Wild Turkey 101 is a 101 proof (50.5% alcohol) bourbon that is a marriage of primarily 6-, 7-, and 8-year-old bourbons. Jimmy Russell notes that unlike some of its competitors, "Wild Turkey 101 has an exceptionally gentle and rich aroma for a high-proof bourbon, thanks to quality at all stages of its production." At first taste, 101 is rich with vanilla and caramel, with notes of honey, brown sugar, and a hint of tobacco. Its high proof contributes to its bolder flavor. Wild Turkey 101 is the benchmark in bourbon, best enjoyed neat or on the rocks. It?s also excellent in more sophisticated cocktails.
50.5% Alc
Originally crafted by Kentucky Bourbon hall-of-famer Eddie Russell as ?Wild Turkey 81?, Wild Turkey Bourbon is aged in American white oak barrels with the deepest, No. 4 ?alligator? char. With notes of sweet vanilla, pear, and hints of spice, this bourbon finishes with a flavor that is full and rich, whether enjoyed straight or with a mixer.
This bourbon is a unique marriage of Wild Turkey 6, 8 & 12 year old stocks, which give the whisky a rich exceptional flavour that is remarkably smooth, considering its high alcohol content. It is assertive with hints of light oranges, mint & tones of sweet tobacco that will remind you of your grandfather's pipe bowl. The finish is long, warm & nutty & lingers in the mouth with hints of hot peppers & well-toasted whole wheat bread.Source: wildturkeybourbon.com
Another wonderful rye whiskey from the equally wonderful Willett Distillery! After it's distilled over in Kentucky, the liquid was aged in new charred white oak barrels for the entirety of its four years. Eventually, it was bottled at cask strength, a warming 57.2% ABV. An outstanding rye whiskey that proves great value for money.
