Dark, velvety, smooth and very full bodied. Madiran is the name of the wine and the appellation it coms from in the sunny south of France and it is made from the Tannat grape, which has to form 70% of each blend. The remainder can be made of up Merlot, which adds softer flesh to the tannic (hence the name) bones.
This is a lovely wine to drink now with some age on its side and can further develop positively for up to five years.
