Belgian Beer
Rated *World Class* with a 100 point score from Beer Advocate, this is a must-try for fans of funky sours. Hanssens Bartholomeus, former major of Dworp, started to brew lambic in 1871, in the previous Saint-Antonius brewery. Nowadays, Hanssens Artisanaal is directed by Sidy Hanssens, daughter of Jean, the fourth generation in this family?s tradition. It has to be noted that Bartholomeus started as a lambic brewer, but after World War I, when the Germans took all the copper brew material to produce war equipment, he, like many others at that time, had to continue as a blender. The most significant difference between a gueuze blender and geuze brewer is that a gueuze blender buys wort (lambic wort) of lambic brewers and does not brew the lambic by his own. A gueuze brewer only works with its own lambic. Each batch of Gueuze offers different aromas and flavors only based on the century old knowledge of the Hanssens family. After the blending the Gueuze are bottled, corked and stored in the cellar for secondary fermentation at 50O-55OF for over one year whereas a blender works with different lambics.

The king of the abbey beers. Brewed since 1074 by the Formula Antiqua Renovate.
The beer is a classic Belgian Tripel style. Typical Belgian yeast aromas and a glowing dark golden body identify this as Belgium?s quintessential beer.
It is amber-gold and pours with a deep head and original aroma, delivering a complex, full bodied flavour with inviting sweetness of tropical fruits, giving way to a peppery spice and strong and dry, bitter finish. And the beer hides it's alcohol all too well!

Beer of spontaneous fermentation, the Oude Pinot Noir Tilquin ? l'ancienne is made from the fermentation of 260 gr of Pinot Noir grapes by liter of lambic.
Unfiltered and unpasteurized, this beer is refermented in the bottle.
The Pinot Grapes are organic grapes from Burger in Steinseltz.
Originally, this beer was made for the 10 year anniversary of Moeder Lambic, with Pinot Noir grapes coming from Valentin Zusslin Estate, cultivated in biodynamic viticulture and harvested by hand on their Bollenberg vineyard.

The Quetsche Tilquin ? l?ancienne is a spontaneous fermentation beer obtained from the fermentation of destoned fresh purple plums (variety Prune de Namur or Quetsche v?ritable d?Alsace, close to the Damson) in a blend of 1, 2 and 3 years old lambics for a period of 4 months. Unfiltered and unpasteurized, it is re-fermented in the bottle for a minimum period of 3 months. The lambics used were fermented and matured in our own oak barrels at the blendery. They are made from worts brewed by Boon, Lindemans, Girardin and Cantillon.
The taste is slightly tart but also fruity and round which makes this Quetsche ? l?ancienne may be more accessible for non-experts. It also has a slight dryness from the skin of the plums. The nose perceives a plum brandy perfume.

The Gueuze Tilquin ? l?ancienne is a spontaneous fermentation beer obtained from the blending of 1, 2 and 3 years old lambics. Unfiltered and unpasteurized, it is re-fermented in the bottle for a minimum period of 6 months. The lambics used were fermented and matured in our own oak barrels at the blendery. They are made from worts brewed by Boon, Lindemans, Girardin and Cantillon.
The taste is tart and dry but has a certain roundness that makes this Gueuze ? l?ancienne particularly accessible for non-experts. It will also delight fans of the genre for its sweet complexity. It also has a slight dry bitterness because of the youth of the oak barrels used, as they still release some tannins. It has a fresh lemony nose.

Golden blond, multigrain beer with a very persistent, lacing head.
Scent: A complex smell, with a citrus aroma, followed by hop aromas such as Saaz, Brewers Gold and Amarillo.
Flavour: Initially rather sweet, because of the alcohol. The intense taste and roundness mask the presence of high bitterness.
8.5% ABV
The triple blond is both simple and complex. Its initial simplicity, with an easy approach that releases a sweet zest is quickly complemented by a bitterness that runs to the back of the mouth. Complex, with its raw ingredients clashing a little like cannon shots, but each tastier than the last, with alternating bitter hops and the flexibility of its malt, gives this Waterloo beer the taste of victory
8.0% ABV.
DATED STOCK: This beer is past date or nearing the best before date. The beer will still taste good but not quite so good as when it was first brewed.
