Chateau Thivin is the oldest estate on Mont Brouilly, which has remained in family hands for several generations. Grown on steep slopes, harvested manually and vinified using low intervention techniques so as to maximise terroir expression.
The Brouilly appellation is capable of producing excellent and complex wines, quite unlike the maligned Beaujolais Nouveau. Brouilly produces fruit forward, medium bodied wines, typically from the Gamay grape.
Le Sept Vignes is a blend of the seven plots of Chateau Thivin, in an effort to represent the region's terroir. This is a delicious, medium bodied red, with slight tannins and a persistent, juicy red-fruit character. Complex yet easy-drinking in it's youth. This wine will grow in elegance given a few years age.
Beautiful white gold hue with greenish tinges. This 1er Cru offers an exceptional aromatic profile with mineral notes with delicate spices. The palate is a perfect balance between strength, freshness, sweet fruity notes and intense floral aromas. This is a complex, elegant and remarkably harmonious wine.
Winemaker: Julian Altaber
Philosophy: “All the grapes come from vines cultivated without weed killer or synthetic product, which requires a lot of work on my part as well as the winegrowers who supply me with the grapes! All wines are vinified and aged without any oenological product (or sulfite) with very little intervention. We are not trying to make great wines but real, honest wines with the best possible drinkability index. Wine is a drink of conviviality, friendship, celebration!”
100% Pinot Noir from Saint Aubin vineyards. Organically farmed, hand harvested, approximately 80% whole bunches fermented in wooden cuves for 15 days, pressed then matured in used French oak barriques. Wild fermented and bottled unfiltered and unfined.
The Pouilly-Fuiss? is a blend of the best vineyard parcels with 10- to 35-year-old vines from the Fuiss? amphitheatre of limestone and clay soils. Each parcel is vinified separately to ensure the finest expression of the fruit. Half the wine is fermented in enamelled tanks and half in used oak barrels.
Subtle notes include minerals, yellow fruits, flowers, fresh hazelnuts and spices, with an intense finish. The perfect equilibrium of this wine allows it to retain its vibrancy with age.
The Cordier family have been making wine based in the village of Fuisse for many years with a spread of vineyards throughout this small sub-region
This is a delicious Chardonnay from low-yielding vines in the Bois d'Allier vineyeard near Charnay, that offers real depth and concentration for its price. Maturation in old oak foudres has given a gentle vanilla edge to the rich green apple fruit and nutty tones but not masked the firm acidity and chalky minerality.
A complex, dry wine with excellent mineral structure and white fruit aromas.
Since 1998, Cyril Testut has run the family Domaine started by his father Philippe in 1967. The family's vineyard holdings cover 13 ha of the Chablis AOC, where Kimmeridgian clay and limestone unique to the region dry the creation of Chardonnay that is renowned for its distinctive salinity and minerality.
100% Chardonnay, from average age 50 year old vines over 9.5 ha in front of Grand Cru Blanchots and on the side of Premier Cru Monte?e de Tonnerre. Hand harvested from late September to early October and vinified and aged in tank for up to 16 months, before bottling at the estate.
Food Pairing: Pair with seafood, white meats or rich mature cheeses.
Domaine William Fevre has led the Chablis revival over the past decade with its refined, full bodied, dry white wines, all 100% Chardonnay, of course, as this appellation is devoted entirely and solely to this great white grape variety.
What the critics say
“If Kimmeridgian could be distilled, it would likely smell exactly like the nose of the 2019 Les Clos with the additions of wet chalk, citrus zest and oyster shell. There is equally good delineation to the snappy, painfully intense and overtly stony large-bodied flavors that deliver superb length on the balanced finale. This elegant and classy effort is also built on a base of almost pungent minerality and a wine that is indisputably going to age effortlessly for years.”

Long regarded as the top domaine in the Côte de Brouilly, Château Thivin is also the oldest estate on Mont Brouilly, built on an ancient volcano back in the 15th century. Run by the third generation of the Geoffray family, who have been farming the estate since 1977, Château Thivin is the benchmark of the Cote de Brouilly appellation in Beaujolais.
Since its acquisition in 1996 by Louis Jadot, Château des Jacques occupies a prominent place among lovers of age-worthy Beaujolais. The Burgundy methods adopted both in winemaking and élevage, allow to develop more muscular cuvées graced with astonishing aromatic depth. Subtle cocoa notes are joined by violet, cherry and tea in this Morgon that can easily handle a good five years in cellar.
90 Points, Wine Spectator, Gillian Sciaretta "Velvety tannins envelope the licorice-tinged cherry and raspberry flavours in this bold, medium-bodied red, with tangy acidity weaving through the spice and mineral elements."
