Night Spirit Imperial Stout is a luscious black ale that has been aged more than 10 months in whisky casks that held very special NZ single malt whisky for more than 20 years. The casks have a great story to tell and amazing flavours to contribute to the beer.
Originally these American oak casks held American bourbon from J. T. S. Brown and Sons (now Heaven Hill) and were coopered in the early 1960?s. The resulting beer is deep, dark, and intense in flavour with notes of oak, roasted barley, black malts, vanilla, and whisky.
There were a very limited number of NZ Whiskey Co. barrels, and we can coax the whiskey character out of a barrel and into a beer only once. After that, the barrel may offer oak flavour, but the whiskey character is essentially lost. Each bottle is hand numbered. The 2017 release is sold out. Annual releases are planned for 2018 ? 2021 and supply is very limited.
Count yourself fortunate if you are lucky enough to get your hands on some of these bottles. It is a unique experience which can?t be repeated and the beer will age gracefully for years. We expect the sweet spot to be around 3-5 years. Do not serve cold! Treat it like a port or red wine and serve it in an elegant glass.
12% ABV.
St Kevin, the man on our bottle, stood apart. This whiskey does the same. It has sucked the marrow out of two casks. An American Bourbon barrel gives sweet, toasted vanilla notes. A Spanish Oloroso Sherry barrels adds hints of dark, dried fruit and a slight nuttiness. Non-chill-filtered for a truer character.
Produced from the Lawson's Dry Hills home block vineyard around the winery, where Ross and Barbara established their first vineyard in the early 80s. Since then the Gew?rztraminer from this vineyard has legendary in New Zealand wine circles, made in a medium style this wine has a rich, round mouth feel with great depth and concentration whilst displaying wonderful aromatics
You don't need us to explain the popularity of Prosecco and how its light body, medium flavour intensity and soft smooth sparkling style make it one of the most affordable, refreshing white wines around.
La Marca is our miniature Prosecco, available in screwcapped 187ml, stylish Italian bottles. It's a big brand from a big wine region; well, two wine regions in north east Italy - the Veneto and Friuli, home to this leading sparkling wine.
Waimanu Pinot Noir has savoury flavours of freshly picked mushrooms and a firm backbone of fresh acidity and smooth tannins. The grapes in this wine benefit from hot days, cool nights and more than anyone's fair share of wind - as they grow on North Canterbury’s most western vineyard where wind is frequent and harsh, creating a drying environment. Smooth, silky flavours of intensely concentrated ripe cherries and complex earthy spice aromas of cardamon, nutmeg and hints of smoky flavours.
Garage Project - DFA is dead, long live DFA. Demus Favorem Amori - 'we choose to stand for love'. DFA, a surprising blend of flavours marrying mango, Vietnamese mint, lime and chilli with the high citrus hit of centennial, amarillo and citra hops. The result is a deliciously intense tryst of bittersweet heat. Tropical fruit and citrus hop character, coming together to create a beer of rich, satisfying balance.
Life is all about choices.
Choose love.

This wine meets you with alluringly sweet white florals on the nose, quickly followed by butter and stone fruit. This is a characterful wine with toasty oak and creamy yeast combining with well-defined stone-fruit notes. The entry to the palate is soft and creamy, building quickly with elements of lemon zest, wood smoke, grapefruit pith and rock salt in an intense finish.
McLeod's Brewery - Our Belgian Tripel is a tribute to masters of this beer style. A Belgian Trappist-inspired ale made with Belgian malts and distinct yeat, expect aromas of spice over layers of malt and hops married together for a rich-yet-dry mouthfeel and smooth, bready maltiness.
Make no mistake, it is dangerously drinkable. Bottle conditioned, so open and pour carefully.
This wine is made with grapes grown on the Catena winemaking family's Adrianna Vineyard, on the site of an old riverbed where white stones absorb heat and store it, aiding ripening of the grapes.
Argentina?s signature grape was introduced to the country?s biggest wine region, Mendoza, by Frenchman Michel Pouget in the mid 1850s, but it has since been discovered that not all Malbec vines brought into the country were exactly the same. And the family that has done more to advance the understanding, high quality expression and understanding of Argentinian Malbec is the Catena family, whose Zapata Malbec is one of our favourite wines in store; big, bold and full bodied but with elegance to burn, thanks to its silkiness.
The Catena family has arguably done more for the quality and reputation of both Malbec and the Argentinian wine industry than any other company, advancing the understanding of growing grapes at altitude, high up in the foothills of the Andes where hot days, high sunshine hours and cool nights ripen the grapes and retain elegance.
What the critics say
?Incredible aromas of blackberries, hot stones, wet earth and flowers. Full-bodied, it floats across the palate with ultra-fine tannins that melt into the wine. Superb, long finish of subtle fruit and terroir-defined subtleties. Try in 2022, but already a dream to taste.?
