This outstanding dry Riesling captures the intense lemon-lime and hint of honey that make great Riesling so, well, great. The ageing potential of this wine is also exceptional but it drinks so beautifully now that it will require significant willpower to keep it.
The village of Trittenheim is home to the great Apotheke Vineyard, one of the best sites on the Mosel; which is the world's greatest Riesling region.
The name Apothem literally means pharmacy, the vineyard?s name comes from the Abtsberg Abbey in the nearby city of Trier.
Stein means stone and this dry Riesling is made from a south west facing vineyard site planted on slate slopes with each vine single staked and with average vine age of 60 to 80 years of age. The grapes yield wines with great aging potential and complex minerality. All grapes are hand picked, gently pressed and fermented with indigenous yeasts in German fuder barrels where the wine is left to receive the smooth, complex flavour benefits of extended lees ageing.
Elegance in the bottle, this silky red Burgundy is dense and vibrant; walking a fine tightrope of fresh acidity supporting the full body and impressive layers of flavour. It is made by the father-son winemaking team, Hubert and Laurent Lignier, who together manage nine hectares of vineyard land, from which they make 24 wines at regional, village, premier and grand cru level.
Their vineyards hae ploughed since the 1990s with no use of weedkillers and insecticides, which is, in their words "In order to favour microorganism and therefore the essential balance for the vine’s growth. Since 2011, we use organic protective treatments."
Riva the Bernese Mountain Dog was named after a ski run at Vail Resort called Riva Ridge. One of the original trails and the longest single run on Vail Mountain, it was named by a Vail founder who was a member of the 10th Mountain Division for the battle they fought in the Italian Apennines during World War II. The design is a nod to the run as well as the history behind the name.

Rolet is regarded as one of the top producers of the Jura region in eastern France, situated between Burgundy and Switzerland. This area is best known for its quirky vin jaune styles of wine, made under a veil of flor yeast. Similar to sherry but with very different flavours.
This wine is made from the region's flagship indigenous grape, Savagnin, which is a very old, genetically important grape variety - DNA profiling shows it to be a parent of Chenin Blanc, Gruner Veltliner, Sauvignon Blanc, Silvarner and Trousseau. The term ouille refers to a gentler process of production with less oxidation and no flor growth during the production of the wine resulting in a fruit forward appley expression of the grape.
Domaine Rolet is considered one of the flagship wines of the Jura d?partement, a wine region located between Burgundy and Switzerland. This region's cool climate wine region expresses itself in a range of white and red grapes that typically enjoy cooler climates. The most planted grapes in the region are Chardonnay and Savagnin; a specialty to this area, which has traditionally been vinified under a veil of yeast, not unlike the aging of sherry but with quite different results in terms of aromas and flavour, which can be complex, savoury and nutty. The main red grapes in Jura are Poulsard, Trousseau and Pinot Noir.
Crozes-Hermitage is an appellation in France's northern Rhone Valley where Syrah rules the roost. In fact, Syrah is the only red grape allowed to grow here and in the entire northern Rhone, for that matter. Whites are rare and they're another story.
This big, dark, full bodied red has all the bells and whistles you want to find in high quality French Syrah, namely, ripe dark fruit flavours with aromas of white pepper and savoury spice. It's three years old and still youthful, but drinks well now, decanted. It will continue to age for up to a decade in a good cellar.
Framboise Oud Beersel harmonizes the authentic taste of Oude Lambiek and the fruity flavour of ripe raspberries.
A delicate balance of soft lambic and real raspberries provides a smooth natural beer.
The use of real raspberries and lambic matured in wooden barrels results in an exceptionally subtle and refreshing beer.

This 18 year old is a luxuriously smooth Campbeltown single malt whisky, finished for 12 months in Oloroso sherry, which brings spicy and floral notes to the wonderful salted caramel character found in Campbeltown single malts.
Expect thick sweet toffee and citrus fruits, perfectly balanced with subtle notes of sea spray and spice.
This is the 15 year old single malt Scotch whisky from Glen Scotia in the Campbeltown region, released in 2015 as part of a redesign for their range. The distillers use specially selected American oak casks to age this expression, which compliment the fruit-forward and subtly coastal whisky rather well.
Glen Scotia was built in 1832 in Campbeltown, which know as the Victorian whisky capital of the world. The distillery has its own resident ghost, former owner Duncan MacCallum, who lost his fortune and drowned himself in Campbelltown Loch.
Tasting Note:
Sweet vanilla and fresh pear and apple aromas. The palate is sweet with green apple and milk chocolate flavours.
